Ambient Dub融合了由King Tubby等牙买加声音音乐家开创的Dub风格，与受DJ启发的氛围音乐（Ambient）与Electronica音乐，其中包含了固有的Drop、回声、均衡处理及迷幻电子效果。同样，世界音乐的节奏与元素也成为了Downtempo音乐的重要组成部分。Tribal Ambient Dub一词便用来形容这种Ambient Dub与世界音乐的融合，常常以部落氛围（Tribal Ambient）或者不同地域的地区音乐的形式融合进Dub音乐中。
